Why does Ukraine need our support?
While 14.6 million - nearly 40% of the population - required aid in 2024, current 2025 assessments identify 12.7 million with acute humanitarian needs due to funding constraints and operational prioritization. Intense fighting, widespread destruction, and mass displacement have left millions without adequate shelter, healthcare, and access to basic services. Nearly 6.9 million Ukrainians have fled abroad, while 3.7 million are internally displaced.
Frequent attacks on civilian infrastructure, including power grids, water systems, and healthcare facilities, have worsened the crisis and create a dire need for humanitarian aid. Harsh winters, coupled with energy shortages, continue to endanger millions, particularly the elderly, people with disabilities, and children.

Blackouts are endemic, and diesel generators, the primary alternative, remain expensive and unsustainable. At Ayder Hospital in Mekelle, diesel costs alone devour the equivalent of 7,000 yearly wages. In addition, X-ray machines and oxygen concentrators are routinely destroyed by power surges when electricity sporadically returns.
Global fuel supply is increasingly unreliable, with conflicts like the war in Iran exposing how fragile those routes really are.

Ethiopia faces major healthcare challenges, including limited access to quality services, especially in rural areas, shortages of skilled health professionals, underfunded infrastructure, and frequent disruptions due to conflicts and funding gaps. While the country has made progress expanding primary healthcare, inequities remain, with many communities lacking essential services and struggling with high out-of-pocket costs. These issues are made worse by supply chain disruptions, weak governance, and heavy reliance on external aid, all of which threaten the stability and resilience of Ethiopia’s health system.

Explore our projects
Powering 90% of Mudula Hospital with solar
Sitting in central Ethiopia, the hospital serves 600,000 people in the region and treats 8,000 patients a month, though treatments were heavily affected by the unreliable grid and expensive diesel. Together with our partners we implemented a 73.4 kWp solar system with 110 kWh of battery storage, sourcing components across three continents to ensure the hospital would get the highest quality system at the lowest price.
Restoring ICU care for six million people in Tigray
The war in Tigray left most hospitals without functioning intensive care, and only 3% of health facilities in the region remained fully operational after the conflict. Together with our partners, we delivered 44 ICU beds and mattresses to 11 hospitals across the region, opening ICU services for the first time in five of them.
