Ethiopia continues to face one of the world's most severe humanitarian crises, as years of conflict take a toll on hospitals and schools alike. Hospitals have lost staff and equipment to the fighting, and many schools remain damaged or closed. Drought and flooding tied to El Niño weather patterns have deepened the strain, leaving much of the country without the reliable power that hospitals and schools depend on.

Powering 90% of Mudula Hospital with solar
Sitting in central Ethiopia, the hospital serves 600,000 people in the region and treats 8,000 patients a month, though treatments were heavily affected by the unreliable grid and expensive diesel. Together with our partners we implemented a 73.4 kWp solar system with 110 kWh of battery storage, sourcing components across three continents to ensure the hospital would get the highest quality system at the lowest price.
Restoring ICU care for six million people in Tigray
The war in Tigray left most hospitals without functioning intensive care, and only 3% of health facilities in the region remained fully operational after the conflict. Together with our partners, we delivered 44 ICU beds and mattresses to 11 hospitals across the region, opening ICU services for the first time in five of them.
